Good morning again
Freebmd gives:
The birth of John A.BATHER was registered in Burnley, Mar. 1936, mother's surname HELLIWELL.

I have searched Ancestry.com and Freebmd but cannot find any BATHER/HELLIWELL marriage.
Does anyone have any ideas?

best regards

I found this Bather/Helliwell marriage on http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1934
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
BATHER James William West HELLIWELL Eva Alice Burnley, Elim Methodist Chapel (Briercliffe Rd) Preston AP265/3/33

You don't say what the fathers name was, is this the one?

My parents were married at Elim Church and I know it is no longer operational as a church, but not sure if building still exists.

:D Elim church, where I was baptised in 19 er um! Was pulled down and rebuilt as a Methodist Church to combine the one at Colne RD about ten years ago.
All my Eastwood ancestors went there and the present building is a pleasant and appears very well used.
The surname Bather I connect with my paternal Grandma, she seemed to know them quite well, but can't think of a christian name she used? ( it's that age thing again!!!)
She lived up on Marsden Rd, opposite the 'sanantorium' maybe they were close by?
