What name is Hetty an abbreviation for? I had assumed it was Harriet but then today I found an Annie being referred to as Hettie?

Baffled! She was definitely an Annie. The burial refers to her as Annie but the news reports say Hettie. Perhaps the detailed local one gives why she was called Hettie?

Nickname perhaps, they were quite common years ago. Or maybe she didn't like the name Annie and called herself Hettie. Was her mother called Annie and she called herself Hettie so as not to be mixed up????? Just a few thoughts.

That's possible. Her mum was called Anne. Thanks Gloria
