I'm also dong my family tree but now I come to a full stop with my great great great Grandfathers.

Charles Baxter 1787 = wife Mary ? 1796

Stockport Cheshire

Thomas Taylor 1791 = Elizabeth 1794

Rossandale, Lancashire

I've seen Baxter somewhere on the board but I don't think it's our branch. Mind you I can't find it again LOL !

It would be easier if I knew the last names of their wives.

Can anyone please help. ?

Kris (username Leaver) is a Baxter. He probably won't be around much until the weekend but he may be able to point you in the right (or wrong!) direction!

Hi, yes, I am a Baxter, but I haven’t had a lot of success in researching this name. My family moved around a lot and there are lots of John’s & James’ so I gave it a break.

I can trace my family back to John Baxter (1825-1885). John married Sarah McDonald (1829-1870) and they both lived at Kendal in Westmorland. Before this they might have come from Scotland.

Jack Sparrow, do you have the census info for Charles Baxter?

Yes I have.

My great great grandfather was

John Baxter - 1823- 1895

wife

Ann Morley - 1823-1896

Do you know there were 2 William Baxter's (Grandfather) born in Burnley on the same day and married on the same day. What a coincidence don't you think ?

This threw us into confusion until we received the marriage license showing that that one of the William's married a Dinah Taylor who was my grandmother.

So you must belong to the other Baxter line as Sarah McDonald doesn't show up in my lineage.

It can drive you round the bend trying to sort this lot out.

I've found my great great great grandma's maiden name. It was Mary Pickford. :D

You had better compare notes with me for I too have just made the same breakthrough. John Baxter m Ann Morley was my G G Grandfather. My line follows through Joseph Baxter, their son.

However, I received Mary [Pickford's] Baxter's Death Certificate yesterday - so don't go buying copies, I'll let you have one.

Mary Pickford's parents and indeed Mary herself were buried at St Thomas' Stockport. The mystery is, what happened to Charles Baxter 1789 after 1841. He notified Mary's death on 11th May 1844 at Stockport. Thereafter the outcome is not clear.

Ormers

I Think we are probably already in touch directly although I do not recognise your username nor you mine.
