Have you tried contacting the crematorium?

Burnley Crematorium wasn't open in 1920 and I don't know if it was common practice at that time, it's just a mystery as to where he ended up.
Do you know if anyone has transcribed the burial registers for Wheatley Lane and where they might be?

Wheatley Lane has been done but they are not available for free. Surname reports can be bought from cemsearch http://www.cemsearch.co.uk/

Hi,

If you go to http://www.lfhhs-pendleandburnley.org.uk/
Select Local Churches at the left hand side
Choose from Map
Select Wheatley Booth
Scroll down to Wheatley Inghamite Chapel and select.
There is a contact number for the Minister who is extremely helpful and will tell you if he was buried there.

hello, my Greenwoods alledgedly built half of Blackpool's houses. The story in my family was that a Joe Greenwood set off from Briercliffe with a cartload of bricks and bought land and starting building!!! Anyone claim this story too? My paternal Granny was Ada G., she had sisters Mary and Margaret and an elder brother called John. John' daughter became a farmer near Longridge i think? carol........

Re: Relatives becoming untraceable......It could be like in my family. my mother was a native of Durham and settled in BLackpool, she brought an elderly Uncle to live here hundreds of miles from his home and when he died he was buried in Blackpool.
The same could apply to the Thomas Greenwood....he might have become infirm and taken to another location to be looked after,he might even have emigrated.......
Carol.
