A question for the KIPPAX experts I know are out there. I have an ancestor Elizabeth KIPPAX married Leonard COTTAM in 1780 at Clitheroe. Despite the marriage being on the wrong side of Pendle, I am quite sure through various later connections with Briercliffe that Elizabeth was baptised in Burnley in 1762 or in 1763. The question is, which ? The other Elizabeth no doubt married James CRABTREE at Burnley in 1782.

Ideas welcome.

Hi Rex,
If you look at my tree under Kippax, you will find I have an Elizabth baptised St Peters Burnley 1763. I haven't added any more to that on the site, but, I will delve into my family tree stuff tonight and see if I have anything else on her.

Sorry Rex, nothing conclusive. There is an Elizabeth and a Betty baptised around the same time, the daughters of a James and a Richard Kippax, I am pretty sure these two are closely related, but nothing proven.

Thanks, Gloria,

Richard is favoured as father by the age at death of a likely Elizabeth COTTAM, whereas James as father is one year out. Also, Leonard and Elizabeth named their first daughter Ann/Hannah, and Richard's wife was Ann.

However, a DNA contact descends from James, thus favouring, a little, James as father of Elizabeth.

All rather tantalising !

Rex
