I have got my DNA results at last. I am 50% English and 40% Scandinavian and the rest is NW Europe.
They have found me a 2nd cousin once removed.

I am now puzzled? This should mean we have grandparents in common??? but I have no
grandparents siblings unaccounted for. Does anyone see a connection that I am missing?

Baffling and exciting! I know my own results through spanners at me.

If the person has a tree, take a look at it, look for something familiar. Ancestry is only guessing at the relationship based on the amount of cm matched so they could be another generation back. Or there is a family secret you are unaware of?

Oooh. mel. a secret in the family, hope so.

The person lives in U.S.A but does not have a tree so have sent a message
to see if she knows anything.

I have a lot of 5th cousins mostly in Uk Holland and Norway etc but there is one in Ukraine?
how my kin got that far is baffling.

Oh I love a mystery, please keep us up to date Hannah, and ask if there’s anything you think could be of help.

Second cousins (direct) have common great grandparents, not grandparents. The 'removed' will mean that the two of you are a generation apart. But it is only an estimate, hence the need for documentary follow up !
