Hello,
I'm interested in any info about a Susan Kippax who married William Foster on Oct 27,1776. Apparently her name was misspelled as 'Hippax'.
Thanks,
Christine M.

Hi Christine,
I have a Susan Kippax christened 20th Feb 1767 by the Hillgate Tabernacle,Stockport, but she was living in Briercliffe. She is the daughter of James and Susan (Nutter). If you look under the family tree section I have put my Kippaxs there, and you will be able to see her. I don't have any more info on her as I followed her brother Joshua.
Edited below on 30th March 2009
I have just reread this and find I am wrong. Susan Kippax is the daughter of Robert Kippax, not James and Susan as I have written above. James and Susan, as far as I know did not have a daughter named Susan. Apologies to anyone I have confused

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately the Susan Kippax you mention is a different one, I think. Even in the 18th century it wasn't likely that 9 year old girl would be getting married. The information must be out there somewhere so I'll keep on looking.

Thanks Kris, must be one of mine but haven't tied him in yet. Sad thing is they got "removed" when they couldn't support themselves----they got sent back from whence they came.

Hi Gloria
I have a John Nutter, b. abt 1860, who acc. to LDS married Susan Kippax, b. abt 1764 in Briercliffe, on 11 Dec 1785.

There is also Susan Kippax bap. 20 FEB 1767 The Tabernacle Hillgate-Independent, Stockport, Cheshire daughter of Robert (again acc. to LDS)

Is this the same Susan? And is she the daughter of James and Susan (Nutter) as you say in earlier post? I can't find her in your tree although you have others baptised in same place. I know LDS often get records mixed up - can you throw any light on this?
Thanks
Annie

Hi Annie, I think it is the same Susan. I have photocopy of the page with them all on. I will root it out later. She should be in my tree as she is in my file on the computer, must have just missed her off. Will get back to you later.

Thanks for that Gloria. I notice that the date is different to the one on LDS so who is Susan's father?
Thanks
Annie

There would probably be something in the newspaper if it went to Quarter Sessions. It probably wouldn't tell you much more though.

Looks like a trip to Burnley now then. Do you know if they have the registers for Wheatley Lane there? it could kill two birds with one stone.

I see they do have the registers for Wheatley Lane, but the church wasn't there in the 1700's.
