Does anyone know the name of or have any info on Sutcliffe Sutcliffe's wife, he was born in Worsthorne, Lancashire in 1788 and died in 1871 in Burnley Union Workhouse. He had a son named William who was married to an Ann. I know very little about this father and son. Is there someone out there that can help me please. :?:

I wish I could, this is a blank in my file too though they don't appear to be connected to my Sutcliffes.

I believe Sutcliffe Sutcliffe had another son called Daniel. Info taken from 1851 census.
HO107/2251 folio 89 pg 29
Worsthorne

Taken from the IGI and needing confirmation I would guess, this is a possible baptism for Sutcliffe Sutcliffe.

SUTCLIFFE SUTCLIFFE
Event(s):
Birth: 1789
Christening: 18 APR 1790 Burnley, Lancashire, England
Age at Christening: 1
Parents:
Father: DANIEL SUTCLIFFE Family
Mother: CATHARINE
Source Information:
Batch No P005202

I have a little info in my file for this.

I have a copy of William Sutcliffe's marriage Burnleymasher. She was Ann Thompson.

1851 census
HO107; Piece: 2251; Folio: 89; Page: 29
Worsthorn
Ann Sutcliffe 34, head, widow, costermonger potatoes, born Worsthorn
John Thompson 11, son, employed at home, born Worsthorn
Ellen Sutcliffe 7, daur, employed at home, born Worsthorn
William Sutcliffe 3, son, employed at home, born Worsthorn

Sutcliffe Sutcliffe 63, head, cotton loom weaver, born Worsthorn

On the original census form Sutcliffe was shown as Ann's father-in-law, but his was crossed out and "head" written instead.

Not just sure what you want but this is him in 1851 census, I will look for the marriage of William if you want.
Living in Wosrthorne and Sutcliffe is a hand loom weaver.
Name Age
Ann Sutcliffe 34
Daniel Sutcliffe 36
Ellen Sutcliffe 7
Sutcliffe Sutcliffe 63
William Sutcliffe 3
John Thompson 11
It has Ann as head and William as her son, and it looks like Sutcliffe is a widow and has Daniel as his son. The other three including John Thompson are down as Ann's children.

Thank you for your inputs, I am a little bit further along than I was now. I am finding it really difficult to find out when Sutcliffe Sutcliffe son William died. I have some info on a William Sutcliffe born on 4th Apr 1731 in Burnley, Lancs and died abt 1794 in New Shop, Stansfield, his parents were John Sutcliffe and Barbara Halstead, do you think he could be a descendant of mine or not? :?

Top state the obvious, William must have died between 1841 and 1851 as he is on the first census but not the second.

Where does "William Sutcliffe born on 4th Apr 1731 in Burnley" fit in?
It's a bit of a leap from Sutcliffe Sutcliffe to this William, do you have anything in between to connect this?

Assuming that the Sutcliffe children were all his, the earliest he could have died is about 1843 and the latest is 1851 as Ann is already widowed by census day.

Have you looked at his site - it's very useful for bmds.
http://lancashirebmd.org.uk/index.html
There's this possibility on there:
Deaths 1850
SUTCLIFFE William aged 33. Registration district Burnley
Records at Preston, reference BU/17/36
If you buy the certificate that will tell you whether it's the right William or not.
As to the connection between yourself and the ancient Sutcliffes, that's anybody's guess till you've filled in the gaps in between.

Maureen, I have a child for this William and Ann (also called William...original weren't they!) born in 1848 so this narrows the death from conception of this William to census of 1851.

Yes Maureen, I think this is the freebmd reference for the same William.

Jun 1850 Sutcliffe William Burnley 21 167

It's a good possibility.
