In the photograph section under Briercliffe people I have put a photograph of George Pollard with his wife Martha and their two daughters Elsie and Winifred. I BELIEVE that the photograph is circa 1916 and again I BELIEVE that George is in the uniform of the Royal Artillery but not sure. Is anyone able to look at the uniform and tell me what they think, is it the Royal Artillery uniform or?????
Thanks
Steve.

Kris might be able to answer this Steve, but if not I would suggest you email the picture and your query to the Burnley in the Great War website. It may take a couple for weeks for a reply but Andrew (one of the site owners) is good at that sort of thing.

This is the picture Steve is referring to http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Photo%20Archive/Briercliffe%20People/George%20Pollard.htm

Hi Steve, I believe you are right in thinking this man is in the Royal Artillery. If you compare it to the cap badges in the links provided they look very similar to George Pollard’s badge.

Steve, there were two George Pollard’s, one George F. Pollard and two George H. Pollard’s who were with the Royal Field Artillery. Their medal cards can be viewed on www.ancestry.co.uk
