Post subject:  briercliffe history exhibition

Does any-one know if Roger is doing another history exhibition this year? Last year it was held at the community centre on Jubilee Street about September time I think. I really enjoyed it and if they need any volunteers for the day I would be interested in helping.

Is this something that may be exhibited during this celebration?
I am definitely coming....and will be combining that visit with reunions with old school chums from Manchester (not seen each other for 50 years). Just awaiting dates so can finalize plans. Building my holiday around YOUR event...I am besotted with this webpage!

This is part of the plans Sue. Nothing set in stone yet. I will make sure you know as soon as I do.

Something he mentioned at one of the meetings, there could be a bigger exhibition next year (or was it 2009?) at Towneley. Gloria - did I dream it or did he say that? There is work being carried out or something which is why it can't happen this year?

In Rogers notes Burnley Express Jan 11th, he says the committee met at his house to discuss the 25th Anniversary celebrations including an exhibition on Sept 13th and 14th.
Also in his notes of the 18th Jan, the local History Group will discuss a programme of activities for the year at the meeting Jan 30th.

Gloria I hope you and Mel get to put some ideas forward. I hope it isn't already set in stone.

Did anything happen about the model of Haggate baptist chapel that I posted?

I thought the exhibition seemed crowded in the Community Centre. Will it be there again would it not be better in the school as it is a special anniversary?

I hope this is something that we will find out at the next meeting. According to the latest newsletter (Maureen have you received one, are you a paid up member?) the dates/events will be finalised by March.

No news yet about the model.

Besides what I put earlier he also says, they discussed the celebrations inc exhibition, a musical evening, dinner and several anniversary publications. It is hoped to commemorate the anniversary with a project to benefit the community. Final preparation for the June trail and July trip will be available at the AGM in march. The committee, at the suggestion of Canon John Edge, also discussed the possibility of making improvements to the newsletter and extending entries on the web site.
Does that mean this website??
Am I contravening anything putting that on here????

I'm not sure Gloria.
Or does it mean the Parish Council website? There are very members of the Society that have actually visited the site, or made it known that they have. I know the lady that makes the brew has been on. I think her son showed her just before Christmas. I think there's only you, Maureen and myself who attend meetings and contribute here.

I have just had a look on the Parish Council website and there is no mention of the anniversary or possible events. Maybe this site is the intended one? Another question for Roger and John.
Must make a list before Wednesday!!

It is in the section of notes under society, so I would have thought it meant on here.

Roger is on the Committee for both. Could be either. I have to say, they don't make good use of their site. It could be an excellent resource for present day goings on within the area.
