Does anyone know if the Rev. Peter Sammon (spelling?) is still alive? He was the vicar at St James' Briercliffe before Peter Hallam arrived. I believe Peter Sammon moved on to a parish near to Lancaster but I could be wrong. This must have been around 1967 or 68.
Thanks

Stephen

I'm sorry, I cannot help you with Rev Sammon, but it is your surname that interests me.I am trying to trace relatives of William Dearden and Mary Kippax who lived in Cop Row Briercliffe in 1841 to 1871, I don't suppose you have any connection with them.

Hello Gill,

My parents were John Alfred Dearden and Nellie Dearden (nee Richardson) and we used to live on Cuerdale Street. My paternal grandfather was Ernest Dearden (Burnley, can't remember the address). I don't believe I have a connection with a Willaim Dearden but I can do some research. I have not yet tried to trace my family tree.

Gill, I have a Mary Kippax born 1802, New Row, Banks, Briercliffe. She was the daughter of Joshua and Sally/Sarah (nee Jackson) Kippax.

It's Mel's warped sense of humour, not my abilities I'm afraid.

Hello Stephen,
If you get round to doing your family tree, let me know, we may have distant relatives in common. My branch of the family started out as Deardens, but some of them changed the spelling to Duerden in the 1850's. At least whoever wrote the census changed the spelling ( I don't expect they could write ).
