Probably went down this with someone else Stephen, sorry.

In The History of Marsden and Nelson---snippet of mentions of Kippax and Scholefield
Scholefield--From 1300 to 1600 it was tenanted by a family named Kippax, who in 1323 held an oxgang and 6 acres.
In 1518, John Kippax of Scholefield bought the Walverden farm.
At the Halmots of the Manor of Colne held in 1323 and 1324. Richard Kippax (Scholefield) an oxgang and 6 acres.
Among the greaves of the Manor of Colne were 1498 John Kippax of Scholefield.
Many Marsden boys became monks at Whalley; among them were John Kippax of Scholefield.
The Marsden Chantry, now St Paul's was closed and sold together with it's endowment Chapel House farm; the buyer or buyers gave the buildings to trustees-----John Kippax of Scholefield.
1515 fined at the Halmot for making unlawful pits in Little Marsden ---John Kippax of Scholefield.
1642 Richard Kippax made a Captaine of Marsden contingent.
1672 John Kippax of Scholefield was responsible for 195yds of repairs to highway.
1726 and 1727 Appointed Church Warden Edward Kippax of Scholefield for Little Marsden.
This latter Edward I think links to ours as father or grandfather of James Kippax (1719).

The History of Marsden and Nelson by W. Bennett is well worth getting if you can source one, excellent reading.
