Looking for help again please.

My gt granddads sister was Alice Maud Whitehead. I know who she married and I know of the children she had but I cannot find her marriage anywhere. I'm beginning to think that she was living over the brush. (Is that the correct saying?)

Can anyone find her please. These are known facts

Alice Maud Whitehead, also known as Maud.
Bapt 1886 in Stoke on Trent.
Was single (still signing name as Whitehead) in Dec 1910 when my gt granddad (her brother) got married.
Was still living at home on the 1911 census and listed as 24 years old and single.
Married Joe Hawthorn(e)....or did she? I expect this to be in the Stoke on Trent, Newcastle under Lyme or Wolstanton district. The volume for all of these districts is 6b.
First child born 1913 Births Sep 1913 Hawthorn Ethel Whitehead Stoke T. 6b 366 and had another 5 in the next 15 years or so.

So you'd think it would be easy to find a marriage between 1911 and 1913 wouldn't you

You'd think so Mel but I looked from 1911-1916 and can't find it.

Thanks Gloria

I've looked longer than that and thought perhaps I can't see for looking!

I've given in and added a short section of my tree to Genes Reunited in the hope of a proper match (not one of their vague similarities!)
I also have the family on Lost cousins. I much prefer the way LC does things but no matches so far and I don't think it is as popular a site unfortunately.

Yes it is. I know loads about the family. Have been to visit my dads elderly uncle today. She was his aunt and he can remember her and the children, names them and roughly how old they would be now what they did where they went.
My Dad remembers the children, 1 of them being same age as my granddad. They were really close and often went on family outings together.
No one knows any details about a marriage though, admittedly it is no longer living memory but there certainly doesn't appear to be any scandal surrounding any members of the family.

I would have thought if they hadn't married there would have been something "not mentioned" in the family history. Black sheep type of thing. If they had got married away somewhere that would have been a bit of a scandal. I think it is one of those annoying things which cannot be found. Were all the children christened at the same church?

Went to the library today and looked at the most obvious choice for baptism but found nothing. :(

Oh isn't it infuriating when you can't find them. I suppose not everyone got their children christened, especially if the parents weren't married. Looking more like that isn't it?
