Can you tell me if either of these streets are located in Maida Hill, Burnley?

1890, 1893 & 1896 - Wilkinson Joseph, 125 Manchester road
1883 - Wilkinson Joseph, 59 Albion street

Have to say I have never heard of it. I did google Maida Hill, Burnley and it took me to Burnley Road, Madia Hill, Brent, Greater London.

Thanks, Patricia. I googled it as well, and I came across this link for Parry, Henry Richard, M.D., 29, Maida-hill, Burnley, Lancashire (Journal of the Society of Arts, from November 19, 1875, to November 10, 1876).

I am presuming that it was an area like Duke Bar, Gannow Top or Habergham Eaves, but maybe it was a street?

I have looked through several Burnley books as well as 2 old maps that I have - no mention of Maida Hill. I thought I had heard of it before :?:

Found this reference http://www.pmagnall.demon.co.uk/fm001.htm
The Barton Rev. Samuel S. Barton (United Meth.) lived at 3 Heaps Terrace, Maida hill. Brunswick Chapel is situated directly opposite the Town Hall in Burnley.

Thanks. I looked at the 1883 & 1890 trade directories, but they didn’t have a reference for Maida Hill.

I will contact Burnley library to see if they have some information.

There are two entries on the 1869 Slaters Directory of Lancashire under the heading "Gentry and Clergy" for Maida Hill
Grime,Mr John H 6 Maida Hill
Margerison Mr John Maida Hill
I did not find any entriess for Maida Hill on any earlier directories.

Hi, I received this message from the Burnley library.

“Hello, Maida Hill was the old name for part of what is now Albion Street. Streets around this area of Burnley are all named after locations in London, i.e. Carlton Rd., Piccadilly Rd., Montague Rd and Albion St. The address in question is a continuation of Albion Street below its intersection with Piccadilly Road”.
