Hi there, Can anyone help. If two people share a 2x great grandfather, what is the relationship between them?

Wouldn't they be half-cousins though, if they only share the Great Great Grandfather, and not both he and his spouse?

I think Mel and I were presuming they shared both gt gt grandparents, so you could be right Stephen.

I don't think it makes a difference.
I have just done the relationship calculator with a relation of mine - she descends from our Gt Grandfather and his 2nd wife, I descend from him and his 1st wife. It makes no reference to the difference in wife - still says 2nd cousins
