Does anyone know if the Barnoldswick church records are held anywhere other than the Preston records office?

According to Genuki, the BT's are at Wakefield.

Not sure if they are available to buy but the page also states

1.C 1587-1837; M 1588-1837; B 1587-1842; Typed transcript, with index; Society of Genealogists
2.C 1587-1776; M 1588-1727, B 1587-1726; Typed transcript, no index; Yorkshire Archaeological Society

Gill,

Seems particularly appropriate in view of your name that you are interested in Gill church !

Try Barlick library for copies or maybe transcripts.

Gill church - their records are the only ones so far where the LRO have actually let me get my hands on the originals. So much more satisfying than microfiche/ film. And a damned sight easier to search through.

ps Were you after a particular individual? I have quite a few 'events' on my tree from Gill/ Ghyll church. You never know, there's always a remote possibilty our trees will cross. (Especially if they're Kings/ Hartleys or Widdups :D

What an honour to be allowed to search the actual records. The baptism I was looking for was that of Ellen Dickinson. They found it for me 1780, father John Dickinson. I now need to find a marriage for John Dickinson. Apparently they lived at Salterforth. Ellen married Robert Roberts at St Bart's Colne on 24th August 1806.

A lot of my 'Gill' people are from Salterforth so I checked my tree just in case. Sorry - no Dickinsons.
