 Post subject: Fiddler in the Family!

On the 1851 census my Husbands 3x Great Grandfather James Cudworth gave his occupation as a "Fiddler", in 1871 as an "Artist" and in 1881 as a Violinist and I am intrigued as to how he would have made a living, the family lived in the Brunshaw area of Burnley and then from 1861 on Oxford Rd. I can't imagine he was part of an orchestra so maybe he was a busker or was paid to play at weddings etc.
