I am trying to find out where my grandmother who lived in Briercliffe went to school. She would have been of school age in 1884. What are the options? I think this might be one for Gloria. Gill

My Nan went to Lane Head. They lived at the top of Croasdale Street/Road/Avenue?

Townley St is up the hill a bit near St James' church. I don't know how many schools there were in Briercliffe. Gill

I think there were two schools in the area--- Lanehead and the one at Haggate. There was one at Roggerham which used to be a school, the little white building below Roggerham Gate Inn. It was started as a Sunday School but I think it may have been used for more than just that as in Roger's book it mentions a headmaster.
