I have the death certificate for my 5x Great Grandfather James Croasdale he died in February 1846 and it says the place of death was New Ground Top. Would it be possible for someone to tell me where New Ground Top was?

Thankyou Gloria, I think I know exactly where it is now. For some reason I had imagined that it would be further up Briercliffe Rd than that. They wern't there very long before they moved onto Charles St.

Hi Joan
OH's grandfather lived there for a number of years and his father grew up there. It was originally called New Ground top but later became Reedley Street.
I have a photo at home of an old map (I'm at work just now). If it's of any interest to you I'll email it to you

Best way to do it on here is by private message - then the world doesn't have to know your email address

She's right - never post your email address on a forum, it's one of the quickest/easiest ways to get inundated by spam.
