Hi Kris, I have looked in our A-Z and there isn't one in Burnley at the present time. When were you looking for? I would have thought it was a common name years ago.
How are you enjoying being back in Canada??

There was a Mill Street in the Lowerhouse area of Burnley, dont know if it's still there or not though.

Thanks, Gloria and Stephanie.

Mill Lane is the address on two carte de visite photographs I have from the late 1860’s or early 1870’s. Unfortunatley these CDV’s give no other information.

Things are ok in Canada. I do enjoy the outdoor activities and the fresh air, but I also miss London.

I know that this is an old posting but the subject was left a little in mid air.

Mill Street was in Habergham Eaves, and was the section of road in front of the Dougdale Brothers Lowerhouse Mills. ie: between the current Lowerhouse Canteen Club and Scott St. This section is now part of Lowerhouse Lane.

Mill Lane was in Burnley centre and was a continuation of Bridge St towards the junction of Parker St> North Parade> Bank St. Mill lane can be seen on the 1851 maps. It is also mentioned by Bennett and T Wilkinson.

Although I have seen several pictures of Mill St. I have never seen one of Mill Lane. Perhaps you have got something that is a little out of the ordinary.

Regards Plaques.
