I have found Yorkshire on line Parish Clerks 2013 and don't seem too have seen it before?

Is it a new one, comparable to our Lancashire one?

Or has it been there for a while and I have just not seen it

Anybody know anything about it?

There are about a dozen counties that have Online Parish Clerk websites now. I've no idea how long any of them have been going or if they are updated as often as the Lancashire version but it's all good - any online facility is a bonus :D

I thought it might be useful to copy this across to get people interested - not that some of us will need much encouragement. Lack of good access to Yorkshire records has been a frustration for me in the past:

Welcome to the Yorkshire Online Parish Clerk (OPC) website

This is a brand new website and will take some time to develop. If you are familiar with any of the other county sites you will know what a fantastic resource they are but also the amount of work that goes into gathering the information.

My involvement began as an OPC for a Cornish Parish before going on to create the Wiltshire OPC site. My role here is mainly to get the website built and maintain it and to support the volunteers. This is where you come in. To build and establish the site I am looking to recruit the following volunteers:

Three administrators to look after The North Riding, East Riding, West Riding.
OPC's to look after parishes.
Photographers
Transcribers to transcribe parish documents and census records.
Other than photographers there is no need for anyone to live in the county, as the work is completely web based you could in fact live anywhere in the World. Unfortunately as the site will run by volunteers and provide information free of charge there is no financial assistance available so each volunteer will be responsible for gathering their own resources.

If you would like to take on any of these roles please do contact me via the link above suggesting what you may be happy to do. To be an administrator it would be helpful if you are fairly comfortable using a computer and can commit at least a few hours a week to the site. All other volunteers are very welcome however small their time commitment.

Looking forward to working with you and building the site together.

So very tempting especially as I have interests in West Yorkshire. The trouble is, having volunteered on other projects in the past, I am all too aware of the time and commitment required. I'm already behind this week on adding some images to the site that were kindly sent to me earlier in the week. (On todays to do list I hasten to add). I feel a project such as OPC would swamp me. :(

I found this site a couple of months ago and it was a wonderful help with my Yorkshire branch.
I've used Cornwall a lot in the past and can recommend it. Not as easy to search as our own Lancashire tho!
