A forum search revealed only 1 reference to zeppelins so presumably the local area was pretty much unaffected by them, most of their raids being around London, the SE, E & NE coasts and the midlands. I've found references to 2 raids that apparently included Lancashire (on 25 Sep 1916 - Lancs, Yorks, Lincs - 43 killed/31 injured & on 14 Apr 1918 - Lincs, Lancs, Warwick - 7 killed/20 injured). Does anyone know if these came close to Burnley or if there were any sightings? (They were so big that they could be seen even when they were a considerable distance away).

Well that's a pretty clear answer!

I'll forward the query to Roger to see if he has any knowledge - this fell completely off my radar!

I've had a reply from Roger, he says he's not an expert but knows of someone who will know more than he does. That person is currently away and does not have email access so Roger will contact him later this month.

Give me a nudge to remind Roger please Gordon. I'm sure both I and he will forget otherwise :?
