Can anybody who has access to BMD trace a couple who's grave we found next to my gt. grandfathers.

They were Fred Eastwood died 1944 age 70 and his wife Mary Winifred Eastwood died 1961.

Havn't a clue who they were but my gt. grandfather Benjamin Eastwood was born in 1852 in Marsden.

Have australian relatives over and we are scouring the graves for family names, but I can't help them with this,.

You need to get the marriage cert which would give the name of his father, then you could find the family through the censuses.
Have fun

Thanks Gloria, they must be close relatives if the burial plots are so near to each other, and now I know how my mother got her middle name Winifred which probably means they were close?

And I thought i had traced everyone, now this is going to set me of again.

Mary Winifred Proctor should be easy to trace through the census, give me a shout if you want any more info.

There's a bit of Proctor info on the forum, use the search Hannah to see if the is anything relevant to your current interest. (nearly slipped into Stars Wars mode then - 'use the force Luke!)

If fred was 70 when he died in 1944 that should mean a birth in 1874.

Found a match on family search but it looks like his mother married again!!!!!

He is listed as son of John Hindle and Ann Hindle and appears with his sister Ellin Eastwood.

There are also Violet and George HINDLE in the same house as childen of the above.

Ill give up while I'm ahead!!

But, before I do give up

There is a Ben Eastwood on the 1911 census age 4 in Brierfield!!!!!!

Have they hidden a child from us? Who where his parents.

My gt. grandparents were there at that time and three married daughters, but, where did he fit in????

 Ah!!! well,OK, thought that Ben may have been born out of wedlock to one of the sisters. mainly my Gran!!! OOOH the shame of it.

Turned out to be a brother who had moved to Brierfield when he married before he went back Briercliffe Rd for the rest of his life.

Boring but a relief to me, I could have had 1st cousins I didn't know about.

I only posted the response here in case Hannah was in the archives somewhere and could check the site but not her emails. I could tell from the email and the topic here that this particular line was causing a bit of excitement for her. :)

I've not done any real research for ages. Been far too busy with other things. Struggling to get my teeth back into it though. :?

Perhaps we should resurrect our brick walls again, every now and again I dig into my Samuel Lockett, chuck my teddies out of bed, and then bury it again.

Just one more question,

Which electoral register would 126 Burnley rd , Briercliffe come under, does any one know?

I think Burnley only goes up to Harle Syke, need to know if I'm going to Burnley or Nelson library to see who John Wilfred lived with up there, they must be relatives and on the society census, no names I know are at that address in 1901.

Thanks, to all
