It's Burnley up to the Commercial Hannah.

:? Now I am confused!!!!!!!

Nelson don't have electoral registers, rang Burnley and a very helpful man rang me back. The area was rural in 1902, so no electors register, but he found a record of Ben Eastwood (John W. younger brother) at that address in the business directory and the property is described as an Eating House????

What was it, a cafe where the brother were working and living??

There was a cafe at the bottom of a street on the main road, but for the life in me I cannot remember the name of the street. There is a pic I am sure somewhere on here-----will have a look for it.

It's the second street on the right, the cafe can be seen, pretty sure it's Parker Street.

Thanks Gloria, there are no end of surprises with this family.

Ben must have been 19/20 when he appears to have opened his version of 1900 McDonalds. We all thought he came home from the Boer War and worked in the mill till he married.

The talent for cooking and baking ( which is in the genes of all female decendants to the present  ) seems to have been in the male line as well.

Had his head screwed on the right way as well with so many mills and workers needing their 'dinner' midday.

Older brother would have to earn his keep helping as he was residing up there while the banns for his wedding were read.

Looking forward to passing this gem of news to the male decendants around the world

Maybe I can put the lot 'to bed'? but never say never will I come up with them again.
