Does anyone know the date when the the central Post Office Hargreaves St Burnley was built?
I'm asking this question because the rainwater collector tum dish is inscribed "ER". This could be Edward V11 or Elizabeth 11. See attachment.

1900, according to John Lowe's book 1985 on Burnley buildings. However, Edward VII didn't ascend until 1901. Maybe the dish was added a bit later.

The building is in 'Flemish Renaissance' style (!).

Sorry Gloria they pulled it out of the wall on Knotts Lanes. This one is at the junction of Spring Lane and North Valley Rd.

Do I get Nectar points as well?

The one I know/knew was at the junction of Knotts Lane and the main road. A proper pillar box, no wall involved.

My trouble is that living away from NE Lancs for nearly 50 years I am a bit behind things !

Rex The one you have mentioned is now a bog standard E11R, The one I was referring to was built into a factory wall.
