Post subject:  Smiths in Gannow Lane

Hello,
I am aware that the Smith family lived in Gannow Lane in the thirties. I believe they had a fish and chip shop. Can anyone help me pin down exactly when they moved there? Many thanks.

Can we have some Christian Names. There were several 'Smith' families in Rosegrove. With regard to 262 Gannow Lane and the chip shop I seem to remember it being sold to a Mr Senior in the 1950's. These houses on Gannow Lane were back to back with Greenhill Yard and were the first in the area to be demolished. Number 262 was slightly more peculiar in that it had an extra single room situated over the tunnel entrance to Greenhill Yard. It also had a cellar were Mr Senior used to prepare his chips. That's about all I know about 262. There may be people still alive who can remember more than I can so some more detail may be helpful.
