Hello all,

it is a long time since I last logged in to search for information on the Lord and Halstead families, but now I have stumbled on the family of Thomas Kippax whilst researching the family of my 4th great-grandparents James Starkie (b.ca. 1800 in Barley) and Elizabeth Spencer (b.ca. 1801 in Colne).

Yesterday I received the death certificates of James (d. 1871 in Spotland) and Elizabeth (d. 1874 in Burnley) from the GRO and noticed that on James' death certificate, Henry Starkie, one of his sons, was present at his death in Spotland.

I have since traced Henry's widow Hannah Fielden (b. 1848 in Todmorden and Walsden) to Fall River, Bristol, New Bedford, Massachussets where she married Thomas Kippax in 1908. The marriage is Hannah's second and Thomas' third. Both sets of parents are shown on the marriage records. Thomas place of birth is shown as Lancashire, England. Hannah's children with Henry Starkie also emigrated to the USA.

Tracing back, it appears that Thomas Kippax was from Briercliffe.

I hope this information is perhaps new and useful to someone tracing the Kippax family.

Best regards

Paul Storey
