I have just discovered that I have a 'Long Lost' branch of my tree

My grt. grandfather Smith Thistlethwaite married twice.

In mid 1880 he married Alice Wright , they had my grandmother, Sarah Ellen in 1888, when Alice died.

The next wife was Rose Ann whom I now discover had three children and not two as I have always been told.

Herbert, Gertrude and Annie!!!

Never heard of Annie before! She seems to have married Richard Stanworth in 1921 but after that I have lost her.

I have no idea why my dad never mentioned her or her sister Gertrude never told me about her.

Anyone know which way I should search?

I also cannot trace Alice Wright and her parents, who was she?

Hope someone can help, Thanks in advance

Do you have the marriage details for the Alice Wright marriage? I'm just thinking that this would give you dads name and perhaps help with a census search.

She seems to have done well for herself, wonder how she met someone out of Burnley?

Cannot find an Annie Stanworth buried anywhere? She is a complete mystery.

Don't remember her coming to visit her family. I suppose all family's have someone like this.

She isn't even on the photo of her siblings but this may have been due the date of the photo
and she possibly had not arrived at this stage in time.

Thanks anyway Gloria.

I suspect this is the 1939 entry for Richard and Annie. When they married, he was a draughtsman...

94 Elton Road, Darlington, Darlington C.B., Durham
Richard Stanworth 16 Aug 1896 Male Quantity Surveyor Married 57 1
Annie Stanworth 13 Jun 1898 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married 57 2
The record for this person is officially closed.

This could possibly be the person in the closed record. A small chance that she is still around?

Lovely, thanks Mel,
Great detective work. Now I can hang another branch on my tree.

Still a lot I can't answer and never will, but fun speculating I suppose.

Do you have the marriage for Alice Wright? Just wondering if dad is named. I had a look at the 1881 census and found a possibility living with her grandparents but not prepared to make that leap of thought without knowing a little more. It looks like the marriage was either in a registry office or maybe at Haggate as it is shown as a Registry or Registrar attended marriage on LancsBMD.

Sorry but there are no clues to Alice. I assume that she lived near him in Lanehead area and maybe they met at
St Cuthberts church or At Andrews?
