I have sent for cd's of the
Parish Registers of Burnley 1562-1653
and
Parish registers of Whalley 1538-1601
I will put a note on here when they arrive, I know they can be found on lan-opc but it will be great to have them in my grubby little hands

Gloria, please be careful if offering look-ups that you are not breaching the discs copyright. I think another of the forum members had this disc though I don't remember if there was a copyright issue with it.

This doesn't just go for this disc, this covers any material that any member has access to. While I think the info should be available for all to see, groups/societies/volunteers have gone to the trouble of transcribing the info and therefore we have to respect their requirements when they sell the info on.

It is sort of stating the obvious but we do have to be careful as a public forum.

Thanks for this information, Mel. I just checked the copyright on my UK Info disk. I thought it applied only if one reproduced information to sell for profit, but it covers any kind of reproduction or translation.

I don't think any of us really give it a thought usually. I know I have not looked at copyright previously but I have to point it out as admin of the forum. I think/hope that would cover us should a problem ever arise.

They have arrived---very prompt.
It says the following
These images are supplied for the information and personal research only. No reproduction may be made for publication without prior permission of the copyright owner.
So, reading this I cannot reproduce any of the info on here.

If anyone would like any info for their personal research PM me and I will try to help.
I don't know if this site is classed as a publication, so will not add them on here until we are sure one way or the other.

I'm afraid it would be classed as a publication if you were to add the records on here.
What you discuss in Private Messages is up to you and probably beyond my control.
