Hi All
My first cousin twice removed was dear little Amelia BATHER (daughter of James & Louisa BATHER). It seems she was born and died in Briercliffe in 1892.
I found her birth in Freebmd:
Reg. Jun 1892, Burnley, Vol.8e, Page 199

I also found her death in Lancashirebmd:
Age 0, Burnley, BU/134/41

However, what puzzles me is that I can't find her death in Freebmd.
Any theories?

Best Regards
Rob

Freebmd isn't a complete index Rob. It's possible that the page you are interested in hasn't yet been transcribed and added to the database.
FreeBMD is upated often so it's worth checking every so often to see if it's been included in the updates.

I've had a look at the index and the death was registered in the same quarter as the birth.

Bather, Amelia Reg. Jun 1892, 0 Burnley, Vol.8e, Page 137

Many thanks for that Mel.
I thought Freebmd was now up to date as of about 1915 but my Amelia seems to have slipped through the net somehow.
Which brings me to another question:
Are all deaths registered including "died at birth" and "died before full term"?
Thanks
Rob

I'm not sure about that Rob. I guess it depends on the info within the actual index.

According to their website, Freebmd coverage for deaths in 1892 is 100% finished, however there is a proviso that this figure could be up to 3% in error. Hence the figure could be only 97% complete.
I suppose Amelia's death registration is in the 3%.

Sounds like it Rob. I found it with no trouble. It was the 1st Bather for that particular year and quarter.
