Does anyone have any idea where Lasseycall, Burnley is??
I have three births of the same couple Dan and Nancy Foulds
Thomas born 1819 Lasseycall, Burnley
Mary born 1821 Lassycall, Burnley
Martha born 1831 Laceycall, Burnley
They had one child previous to these at Haggate House, and four after at Cop Row, that I know of.

Gloria- what are the street names before and after the lassycall address?
I assume the information is off the census.

No David its from the parish registers births. Thomas and Mary are in the church records on here. Martha, I found in the parish records myself. Each time it is spelt a different way. As they seemed to keep to the Briercliffe area all their lives I cannot see it being at the other side of town----but I could be proved wrong.

I've heard of this and I don't know how.
Is it the parish registers on the main site Gloria?

Yes Mel it is. Can't think I have ever heard of it, have even tried thinking in broad old Lancashire.

Thanks David, they are very helpful down there.
I have looked in Bennett's history of Burnley, but as there is no index it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Roger has no mention of it, neither has Bennett's History of Marsden and Nelson.

I also looked in the Bennett book. There is an index in the one covering the most recent years. I think this index is to cover all of the Burnley books!
I have also looked in the pictorial books that I have on Burnley but cannot find anything. Google thinks it should be Classical!!

Where were they living in 1841? I see there is a Dan and Nancy in Cop Row. Are they related to the ones in this unknown place?

I see they are in Cop Row in 1841. Wonder if it is that area?

Does Tattersall sound like Lassycall. Wonder if he had a speech impediment?

They are them Mel, it seems they got to Cop Row and stayed there. The children were all of Cop Row at marriage.
I wondered if it was the Burnley accent and the registrars scribe struggled with it, but they span over 12 yrs so it is doubtful it was the same person. I wondered if it was Lassick Hall, but never heard of that, just playing with words.
Lacey would have a different pronunciation to Lassey-----what about de Lacy? where were they?

Think I might have hit on something there with my lateral thinking. Have a look at this http://archive.thisislancashire.co.uk/2 ... 51499.html
