Glad you have found my ancient post on ogfb !

'Caul', etc is an old name for a sheepfold, and I think that is the most likely meaning here. It also means a weir in a river, but there isn't a river here !

Lassy, Lacy etc is likely to be for 'Lacy' : the ancient Lords of Ightenhill manor were of course the De Lacys. In any case, Lacy remained a name in the area, so it might have a relatively modern origin.

The Lacys took their name I think from 'Lassy', a small town in Normandy through which I have driven en route to sunnier places !
