I would have thought they would have had to have been christened, but not 100% sure about that.

Normally, I think, a person did have to be christened (I think this still stands today doesn't it?) I think this is why we see so many adult christenings.
I wonder if proof was required though or if a persons reply was enough and believed?

Hi, My Mum and Dad got married in a church in 1922 and he has never been christened, so I dont think that it is a necessity. :!:

ON the 1851 census there is a John Jagger with wife Sarah,born Chipping,son William Born Habergham Eaves aged 14 living at Old House in St Pauls District. This info fits with the later census return details On the Freebmd there is a death for John Jagger in Burnley, registered March qtr 1858
On the census there are two additional children Ann aged 3 and Martha aged 1
I think that the surname of Gadhard is an ennumerator error and the step sons of Joshua are really called Jagger.
Who were the witnesses to the marrige of Alice to John Sagar?

I thought that about the mistranscription, but it definitely says Gadhard, perhaps the enumerator misheard it.

There is a birth registered at Burnley for George Jagger 1857 on freebmd,but no births registered for Gadhard.
