Gloria,

I did KIPPAX for Gordon Kippax, in November 2008 ! (9 entries). Search on the site under Kippax and cop (for row), that brought it up !

I'll have a look for BRIERLEY soon.

Brierley. Two entries as follows.

No 99 Lawrence BRIERLEY Haggate Weaver for S HEYS aged 28 others 34 (winds), 3, 11 months. Earnings 8/- (Lawrence) 1 bed (Needs : wife clogs, coton for shifts)

No 140 John BRIERLEY Cockden Weaver for T BLACKBURN aged 30 others 30, 7 (boy), 4 (girl), 1. Earnings 6/- (John and wife combined) 1 bed (Needs : last spring he was 11 weeks in brain fever and he is very poorly at present they all need stockings)

Incidentally, BRIERLEY isn't one of my ancestral names that I know of, but in Colne in the later 18c I have a 'sibling' Ann Brearley GREEN ; Presumambly a family name somewhere, but not linked up.

Hello all,

Just reviving this thread, there was plenty of activity on it nearly ten years ago. Newer members might benefit.

As previously, I am more than happy to do searches in this document. Anyone with family in Briercliffe or Cop Row at this time has a good chance of finding them (1843).

I also have one from 1829 covering Marsden, which I can also search.

Hi Rex, can't remember if you've looked for me in the 1829 covering Marsden, if you haven't can you see if there are any Kippax or Brierleys there?
Many thanks.

Sorry Gloria, neither. Nor in Marsden 1819, which I also have, I had forgotten.

They didn't like to stray over the Briercliffe border, probably thought they were a funny lot in Marsden ! Bit like Burnley and Padiham.
