Learn how to build walls
By Telegraph newsdesk

Budding builders from East Lancashire are being offered the chance to learn dry-stone walling.

Lancashire Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group are running a training day at Mink Hall Farm, Todmorden Road, Briercliffe, Burnley.

The course, on April 4, will provide expert tuition and includes practical work, demonstration and health and safety instructions.

Drystone walls are an integral part of rural Lancashire and provide niche habitats wildlife.

But following an exodus of skilled workers from agriculture, there is a shortage of people qualified in traditional skills.

Anyone interested in carrying out drystone walling as a vocation and booking a place on the course, which is funded by Green Partnership Awards, should contact Seumus Eaves on 01995 642334 or email lancashire@fwag.org.uk.

A £30 deposit is required but will be returned on the day.

I would love to have a go at this. Shame I have something on that day!
