From Burnley Express 20th April 2007.
There have been 95 calls to Burnley police from Briercliffe residents, of which 22 related to crimes. This is a slight improvement on last year. There had been six burglaries in non-domestic property, four thefts from vehicles, four cases of criminal damage, one of unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle, five general thefts and two cases of assault. These figures include two offenders who have been stealing from parked cars and breaking into sheds and garages. They are both in their early 20's and using bikes to travel through back-alleys. If you see anything suspicious please report it to the police as soon as possible and ensure you leave nothing of value on cars.
Juvenile nuisance has been low but the Briercliffe Beat team is hoping to encourage young people to get involved with organisations across the borough to fill in their spare time productively. It is hoped a Friday Youth Club can be set up. If parents and adults would like to be invloved would they contact the Beat team.
PC Thompson and PCSO Lonsdale would like to congratulate Mrs Christine Stuttard who has won a Home Office "Taking A Stand" award for her role in trying to reduce crime and disorder in Briercliffe. Mrs Stuttard and PC Thompson will travel to Birmingham to attend the awards ceremony.
