Just a reminder - weather permitting, this weeks History Group meeting will be a walk around Roggerham. We will be meeting at 6:50 p.m. (not 7p.m.) at the school in Haggate.

Don't really know how we are going to manage this, as it is dark by 8pm, so we wouldn't get very far. There and back in an hour, with stops for Roger to tell us what we are looking at, will only get us a little way away from the Roggerham Gate. Unless he just gives us a chat about the immediate area. The good thing is the weather is supposed to be okay.

He mentioned the length of time we would have and is aware that it is dark at 8 p.m.

How did the meeting go last night, did you manage to fit the walk around Roggerham in? It was a fine night so you probably managed it then eh!

We did go for a brief walk Stephanie, yes. I think it might be something to re-visit next year during the lighter evenings though I have not yet queried this with the powers that be. I thoroughly enjoyed the change though. I felt there was a lot of participation from the members owing to the fact that there were documents on show and the more relaxed environment of the pub!!

I really enjoyed it and I agree that there seemed to be a lot more chat and input-------and we weren't drunk. The Parker info was really interesting, I didn't realise in later years they were the builders of some of the loveliest buildings in the area. The gentleman I was speaking to, I believe, does talks on it, he was quite fascinating.

Do you think that is where Parker Lane got it's name then?

I know his family tree has some very interesting characters in it & seems to involve a lot of local history. Maybe we could get him for one of the monthly meetings . . . What does anyone else think?

I think he has done a talk in the past to the Society. Might be worth a mention to Roger.
