I had a contact a few weeks ago who I put in touch with Roger. I hope they contacted him. The lady was happy to share her memories and from what bit of contact I had, she had an interesting tale to tell.
I'll send them an email when I get back from France. Somebody remind me please, you know what my memory is like!

At the next meeting Roger Frost will show slides of Lane Bottom.

Will he? Are we supposed to be discussing projects still too?

He usually says he will show the slides and then in the second half have a discussion as to a project. That never seems to happen, and as nobody pushes it gets left.
I think he is after ideas for a project as the odd times he has mentioned one ie Briercliffe people in the wars, taping old folks memories, it has been received with very little response.
I thought the original idea was for a family history group, as the one as it is now seems very much akin to the Briercliffe Society Group. The problem with having it as a family history group is that they are usually held in libraries where there is access to computers/internet/books/fische/films etc. I don't know how far the group, as it is now, can go. I love Roger's talks and the walk we did, but there is only so much he can do without going over and over the same stuff.

I agree, it would also be nice to have the odd speaker - maybe I/we should suggest this.

Does the Burnley Historical Society have resources or a resource centre?

I'd really love to hear Mr Parker - he has loads of documents etc and seems to know a lot about his family history. Like al of us, he's getting older and one day he may no longer feel up to coming.

I agree Maureen, and I think he has spoken to the Briercliffe Society in the past. Someone mentioned hearing him speak when we were at the Roggerham. Perhaps we should ask him, or maybe it would be "correct" to go through Roger.
Mel, I don't know anything about the Burnley Historical Society. The Pendle and Burnley branch of the LFHHS meet at Colne Library. They have a good range of talks etc, they can be viewed here.... http://www.lancashire-fhhs.org.uk/pendle/index.htm

Thanks Gloria.

I wonder what costs are involved. Mind you, I wouldn't mind paying a little more for something of interest to us all.

Ben spoke to him (Mr Parker) for quite a while at Roggerham, and once or twice since. He found him very interesting
