New health centre set to open
By Nick Evans
Saturday 23rd June 2007

A NEW £2million primary care health centre in Burnley is to be officially on Monday.

The Briercliffe Primary Care Centre, which houses a four-GP practice, replaces the former surgery, which was housed in a 1930s semi and a small terrace house.

The purpose-built Briercliffe premises also provides a base for diatetics, podiatry, and children's clinics, including a health visitor-led Well-Baby Clinic.

The new centre was built by the Lancashire-based Eric Wright Group, who are the LIFT building partners of East Lancashire PCT, and who built both Nelson's Yarnspinners Health Centre, Burnley's St Peter's Centre, Bacup Health Centre, and currently working on Hyndburn's two new health centres for the PCT.

Thats weird then Pollyanna. That report was only posted on the 'ThisisLancashire' website yesterday! I wonder if it was because it will be the 'official' opening?

It may be an official opening but I was there last Thursday and I didn't hear any-thing about it. We used to have two surgeries. One was in a semi detached house at the roundabout at Lanehead. This has now been sold to an insurance company The other was a corner shop on Burnley road Harle-Syke. This is now being renovated and looks as if it is being turned into a house. The new medical centre is very modern and clinical I preferred to go to the old surgery in Harle-Syke. Very friendly and every-one knew each other. There are lots of new staff in the new centre and it's very impersonal. Just a number now.
