Sorry if this is old news, but I've just come across the RootsWeb series of Guides to Tracing Family Trees: the Contents list is at http://rwguide.rootsweb.ancestry.com/in ... #Numerical
Although there is inevitably a bias towards sources and methods for American family history, there's also information about sources in many other countries, and general hints about how to make the most of time spent in research. And there are links to many of the RootsWeb mailing lists.
I think most of us will find something of interest - anyway it's worth a look.

I used to subscribe and enjoy a couple of the mailing lists on Rootsweb.

Isn't that where we first made contact all those years ago Kris?

Yes, I think it was Mel.

I asked you if you had any information on James Sutcliffe, former Mayor of Burnley. I expected you to send me my family tree going back to 1400!

Not a chance, my file was less than half the size it is now. We never did tie our trees together. Maybe one day...

Still, a good friendship was formed thanks to Rootsweb.
