I had no luck with mine, the pages where I hoped they would be are badly water damaged

On my search today through Clitheroe St Mary Magdalene marriage records I noticed quite few from Reedley Hallows and Ightenhill, in the late 1700's/early 1800's, might be worth a look there for anyone who is absolutely stuck. Didn't help me but it must help someone. |

At Clitheroe!? Is that where Sue from OGFB suggested trying if you could not find what you were looking for in Burnley or was that Cliviger? |

Thats typical isn't it. Maybe a senior moment (though I don't think I am senior enough to have them yet even though I'm statistically middle-aged!) but yes I do think we have had the conversation before. |

Reedley Hallows, Filly Close, New Laund Booth and Ightenhill (and I think possibly Wheatley Carr Booth, I'm not sure off-hand) were in the 'Castle parish' (Clitheroe Castle that is), in that they were not placed in Newchurch chapelry when it was formed in the 16th century. Originally the whole Forest of Pendle would have been in Clitheroe chapelry. All part of course (with Burnley, Colne, Padiham and more) of the vast parish of Whalley. In practice by say 1800 it was only vital for marriages : for residents of the above areas a marriage had to take place at Clitheroe. Full details in Whittaker's 'Whalley', if you have access ! Rex |

Very interesting Rex, I remember seeing the word Castle. Shall go to the records office again on monday and have another furtle. Give me some names and dates Mel if you want me to keep an eye open. An age moment Mel-----SoT?????? |

Stoke on Trent - I wish someone could provide info like that seen on here and the OGFB site. I've not found anyone so helpful or informative in my own area. |
