Members of the Hebden Bridge Local History Society have transcribed many inscriptions found on local gravestones. Transcriptions from the Heptonstall churchyard have been collated and are available at the link below as a .pdf file

Julie, this topic viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1969&p=10778#p10778 is relevant to you. Young Thomas was living with Henry's son Thomas in 1841, he was aged 15. What a shame the 1841 doesn't give relationships!

John Thomas of Stoney Rakes in Lancashire
who died Dec 2nd 1816 aged 79yrs.

I bet that is Stoney Rakes in Briercliffe.

Looking through the Poor Law Records last week, there were one or two references to Burnley, Colne and Marsden. Mostly removal orders.
