I have spent the last two days at Calderdale archives in Halifax. The librarian(?), Mr Patchett, has informed me that the parish records held there will be going on the Ancestry website, possibly at the end of June. I'm unsure whether it will be actual images, though I think he said that people from Ancestry had spent months at one of the archives scanning the records. If not, transcripts will still be of benefit to those who cannot travel.
I would imagine there will be a lot of errors in the search function for Heptonstall, the records are really damaged and difficult to read. Despite this, I managed to find the baptism for the baptism for one of my 6x gt grandmothers. Also found the baptism for one of my 7x gt grandfathers so that's both those branches back another generation. :D :D

Well done you. Is this the Greenwood branch you've been struggling with for ages.
Fantastic feeling isn't it when you push the wall back?

It's Gloria with the Greenwoods. This was a Sutcliffe. The female was a Howarth/Haworth/Howorth!

Thanks Mo.

Mr Patchett told us they would be on soon when we last went. People from Ancestry had been at one of the WYAS centres to do the scanning.

Nice to know I don't need to go all that way anymore if I don't have the time and the printouts will be cheaper too :D

Just when I cancelled my Ancestry subscription. :(
Anyway, the tree's had to go on the back burner for now due to millions of other (less interesting) commitments. So something to try out another day when I get my life back.
