Taken from LFHHS Yahoo forum--(lots of interesting things discussed on there. It can only be accessed by members but well worth the money.)

This institute is part of the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.(UCLAN)

Membership costs £20 but there are concessions. Details from: locfamhistory@uclan.ac.uk Membership runs from August to July.
12th November there is a conference entitled 'The Past, Present & Future of Family History' with 4 speakers. Cost (with buffert) is £27, or £18 for members, or £22 for unemployed / OAPs.

10 Sept Conference 'Transport and the Development of Lancashire'

8 Oct Study Day 'Turning Points' the 1830s

12 Nov Conference 'The Past, Present and Future of Family History'

2012

21 Jan Study Day 'Turning Points 1940s'

18 Feb Study Day 'Medicine and Health Care in the 19th and early 20th century'

17 Mar Conference 'Lancastrians Abroad'

21 Apr Study day 'Turning Points 1980s'

19 May Conference ' Reflections on Disability History - People, Places and Perceptions'

Anybody interested in joining the Institute or attending any of these events (you don't have to be a member to attend) - should email locfamilyhistory@uclan.ac.uk or telephone 01772 893053.

Lunch and refreshments are provided at these events and free car parking arranged.
