(Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society)

is holding its annual

“Celebration of Family History”

at Astley Hall, Chorley, PR7 1NP

on Saturday 30th July 2011
from 11.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

Admission free



Our Celebration is bigger and better this year and is being held in Astley Hall and in the Astley Hall Coach House.

This is an event for everyone interested in Family History.

Both beginners and more experienced family historians will be able
to talk to representatives of services and voluntary groups linked to Family History research.

Resources will be displayed or available for purchase throughout
the day, and the Friends of Astley Hall will be present, dressed in period costume.





Astley Hall itself is open to the public on the day of the “Celebration”. The Hall, with its extensive parkland, is a historical gem. Access is on foot from Chorley centre, from the car park at Hallgate, Astley Village, or by bus from Chorley Interchange to Astley Village.

The following organisations and agencies have been invited to attend the Celebration


* Chorley Branch, Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society
* Irish Research Group, Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society
* Landy Publishing
* Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society
* Chorley and District Historical and
Archaeological Society
* Chorley Reference Library
* Astley Hall War Memorial Room and
* Chorley Pals
* Lancashire Registration District
Certification Service
* North Meols Family History Society
* The Catholic Family History Society
* Upholland Family History Society
* Bolton Family History Society
* Rimmer Family History Society
* Family History Partnership



All the above will host stands, display materials and will offer advice on research.

During the day, there will be talks related to Family History,



The event will be of interest to anyone interested in Family History, and particularly to those with family links in Lancashire

Just bumping this up for anyone who is interested. Mel and I have been in previous years and have found it very interesting, lots going on and the Hall is worth a walk around. There is also a very decent cafe.

It is 30th July, I have changed it on the original post. I had taken the date from the Chorley Branch website and they still had last years info on.

:D I don't think Lancashire Record Office was there the last time I went. The rest of the list doesn't look a lot different though.
