If you'd like to learn Latin, which will help you to read and interpret some of the documents at Lancashire Archives, there is an exciting new opportunity this autumn. Lancashire Adult Learning will be running a 5-week Latin course in the lecture room of the record office building starting on Monday 23 September. The sessions will run from 2-4pm. The cost for all 5 sessions will be £58.

For further details see the website: www.Lancashire.gov.uk/adultlearning

Places can be booked by phone from 1 August on 0845 600 1331 (course reference 3AMC5463A)

Thanks to Jacquie Crosby of Lancashire Archives for this information.

Thanks Gloria

I need Latin to continue one of my South Staffs lines. Won't be able to partake of this though. I wonder if there is anything local to me. I'll have to look into it when I have a little more time.

I suffered 5 years of Latin at school and could never see the point. It's proved handy over the years tho in lots of different ways. Just wish I'd paid more attention - or that we'd had a teacher who'd made it seem more interesting.
