Taken from LFHHS yahoo forum

I have come across the following website about Women's Emancipation.
There are some really interesting and eye-opening sections on here --- such as 'A Man's Historic Right to Beat his Wife' --- 'Wife Selling' --'A History of Divorce' --- and loads, loads more.
If you have a minute or two to spare -- just have a browse.

Thanks Gloria. I'll have a nosey at this with a cuppa. Antiquated laws that would never be allowed today but I wonder if any of them have slipt through the net and have not been abolished?

Some of it makes amusing reading, cannot imagine any female ancestors of mine accepting that.
