Taken from LFHHS forum

FindMyPast will be launching the records from the 1939 Identity Register later in the year. These records provide essential information, since the 1921 Census will not be available until 2022, the 1931 Census information was destroyed by fire and there was no Census in 1941 because of the War.
From LFHHS forum
LFHHS have arranged a FREE presentation on the 1939 Registration Records. Myko Clelland of 'Findmypast', who spoke at our AGM will be making a presentation on the Registration and the information it holds on:
Thursday 10 December at 1pm

This is a lovely venue for an afternoon's visit with park and gardens, a Cafe and of course the Hall.

Thanks Gloria. I had seen a little about the 1939 register on the Lost Cousins newsletter. Eagerly awaiting its release!

Astley Hall is a lovely venue.

It's a bit too far away to say for certain that I could make it though I would like to go :? Would the other half join you if I couldn't make it?

It looks like the 1939 will not be included in a subscription. I'm excited about its release but disgusted that it looks like it will be an extra charge. What's the point of a subscription if you don't get access to major new records.

https://blog.findmypast.com/announcing- ... 58344.html

I'm thrilled to announce some marvellous news: the 1939 Register will be made available online for the very first time on the 2nd of November 2015, only on Findmypast.

The 1931 census was destroyed during the Second World War, and the conflict meant the 1941 census could not be taken. The 1939 Register is, therefore, the only surviving record of the people of England and Wales in the 30 year period 1921-1951, and fills the gap left by the missing censuses. For family historians as well as anyone interested in 20th century Britain, the information it contains is invaluable.

For the first time ever online, the 1939 Register (including names, addresses, occupations, marital statuses and more) will be available for you to explore on Findmypast in just a few days' time. Records will be available to purchase for $10.95 per household, or $37.95 for our 5 household bundle ($7.59 per house). Findmypast subscribers will be entitled to a discount, which we will email you about.

A petition has been started in objection to the expensive fees being charged by FMP for access to the 1939 Register. (as shown above)

The 1939 Register will be released by FindMyPast on November 2nd, for a charge of £6.95 per individual household. This is an extortionate and insulting price for loyal subscribers. This petition asks that FMP either make the Register free for subscribers, or increase the price of the subscription for people who wish to use the Register.

Just discovered, it is only the annual subscriptions, not monthly but even so. I wasn't expecting this announcement until much later in the year.

1939 register is now included in monthly subscriptions. Find My Past have re-jigged the subscriptions and allowed access in 2 of the monthly options.

Great news for the likes of me, I don't like to subscribe annually as I need both Ancestry and Find My Past to be able to research my tree. Monthly subscriptions allows me to change my focus as and when it suits.
