Saturday 1 September 1739

Whereas Lawrence Briercliffe, late of Cliviger in the County of Lancaster, is found guilty on the Coroner's Inquest of the wilful Murder of John Hindle, of Rossendale in the said County; and being in the Custody of the Constable of Cliviger aforesaid, did make his Escape, and at the Time of such Escape had on a light Drab-colour'd Coat, a blue double-breasted Waistcoat trimm'd with Silver, a Pair of Buckskin-Breeches and grey seam'd stockings, is near six Feet high, has light brown lank Hair, a little pitted with the Small-pox, has a small pale visage, walks upright, and is about 37 Years of Age. Whoever apprehends him, and brings him to the Constable of Cliviger aforesaid, or secures him in his Majesty's Gaol, the Castle of Lancaster, and gives Notice thereof to the said Constable, shall receive all reasonable Charges, and five Guineas Reward.
