I presume it should say Bannister, husband of Margaret, because this makes him born 1849 and this agrees with the census

It does say Bannister wife of Margaret....but the actual stone might have it the right/other way around.

I have found quite a few errors in these transcriptions, of course these are only discovered when I have an image of the gravestone.
